FAQ...
* Do I need to credit the Electric Zine Maker if I make zines in it.
- No. It's appreciated tho.
* Can I sell zines that I make in the Electric Zine Maker.
- Yes. Whatever you make in it is yours.
Most questions deal with this so I'll just make a point and say that whatever you create in it is yours. I'm just making a cute tool to make creating zines simple.
It's not meant to be big intimidating commercial art software.
If you are encountering problems while drawing, make sure to check your digitizer's settings.
Touch events should be off.
Things like "Support TabletPC" should also be off.
If you encounter inexplicable issues, or bugs, email nathalie.lawhead@gmail.com I appreciate knowing about them.
These fish have very
important things to do.
Planned Features
The Electric Zine Maker is being released in installments. These are updates that I've been putting out. You can follow along on the itch.io devlog here, or on my blog here.
The first release brought things like printing features, and the Authenticity Tool.
The second brought the Color Factory, Smooshing, and a lot more.
The next update being planned will bring more tools specifically for drawing. These tools will be playful and nerdy! :D I plan on some of them being unusual enough so that people kind of have to "discover" how to use them... like you invent ways to use them because they are so different. Hopefully this will enable people to make very unique things in it.
I also want to add some virtual friends as part of these tools. This way you'll be able to draw with cute virtual friends. This will be for people that don't know what to draw, or where to start. They'll be able to run a virtual friend across the canvas and it will make art for you (or with you).
Once the final tool update is released, the updates after it will be bringing more print templates (so you can make things like booklets).
Some clip art is also planned to be bundled with the Zine Maker so you have art to import if you don't know where to start.
Originally I wanted to add a small story to it. I still am planning that, but will be careful to adjust that in a way that it doesn't interfere with people using this for art making. I'm hoping that the virtual pets planned to be added will round the "cute game fiction" part of it out.
I very much want the Zine Maker to be somewhere between a game and a tool. It's something playful and toy-like!
The original intention was to make something fun, avoiding anything that could come off as an intimidating art tool. You can read more about that in this announcement post.
The purpose of it is to be sweet, playful, disarming, and explorative. The exploration part comes from experimenting with all the strange tools it has to offer.
